The story of Medusa:
There are many variations of the true story of Medusa but throughout ancient Greek mythology, Medusa also called Gorgo, was one of the three monstrous Gorgons, generally described as winged human females with living venomous snakes in place of hair. Those who gazed into her eyes would turn to stone.
Why we choose her:
In of the more gruesome stories about Medusa is that she was raped in Minerva's or Athenas temple by the God Poseidon and was punished by the God Athena by giving her hair of snakes and a stare that could turn men who gaze into stone. We recognize her as a woman who has been hurt and unjustly punished but even with her scars and pain, she uses her punishment of having her hair turned to snakes as a power against those who try to take advantage of her again. As in life we all experience situations that will shape us in the most painful ways. But one of the ways that allow you to take your back power is using your adversity as a driving force to reach new goals in life and within ourselves. How you chose to react to the events in your life will always determine the path on which your life goes down.
